Hard to believe that one year has already flown by! As I was being crowned as Miss Lake County Fair Queen 2012, I knew a fantastic year was ahead of me. Whether it was introducing events, taking part in the Crazy Cow Relay Race, practicing our auctioning skills, or giving out awards to the amazing and hardworking members in 4-H. There was never a dull moment!
I knew that in January I would be representing Lake County in Springfield in the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant.
My goal at state was to do the best I could, and to hopefully make top 15.
Being up on the stage in front of so many people was so exhilarating. Delivering my speech was my favorite part. It was about my last name, One, and being a triplet, and I just had fun with it (I even got the crowd to laugh!). When my name was called for top 15, I just remember feeling so blessed to be up there one last time. Finals flew by and before I knew it, they announced my name as the second runner up! It was such a whirlwind of a week.
I would like to thank the Lake County Fair Board for supporting me throughout this year and for giving me this amazing opportunity. I am so humbled by it and extremely grateful. I also need to thank Alyce Brownlee, our wonderful pageant director. You put your heart and soul into this pageant, and no one does a better job than you. Also, thank you to Brittani Schisler, our 2011 Lake County Fair queen and our 2012 Miss Illinois County Fair Queen. You were such a role model for me, and I had some big shoes to fill following.
I will be forever thankful for this opportunity to be your Miss Lake County Fair Queen, and this experience will always be close to my heart. I hope your time at the Lake County Fair is just as wonderful as mine was! Take lots of pictures, enjoy the experience and remember the roots of Lake County!
